German Gelbvieh represents a dual-purpose breed with emphasis on beef. Characteristic is the plain yellow to red coloured coat of hair. The middle to large framed animals are noted for good feed and legs with dark, extremely hard claws. Beef production in suckler herds with German Gelbvieh pure breeds and crossbreeding with milk breeds is high profitable. The German Gelbvieh is well-known for low age at first calving, good fertility, easy calving and easy handling cows. The good milk performance assures high daily gains of weaners.
Gelbvieh young bulls with average daily gain of 1.400 g are showing enduring beef growth without a thick fat cover. Carcass yields of 58-62 % and well marbled, fibrous beef are favourable characteristic which are leading to a high profitability.
